We, humans, are sophisticated beings with physical, mental, and emotional systems closely interconnected with each other.
Therefore we need constant care on all fronts. Our body needs the right nourishment with healthy food, pleasant intellectual and visual stimulation, good relationships and social connections, a comfortable home environment, and sleep. However, we need a little physical stress in the form of not eating at certain times, exercising and being exposed to cold. I don't mean emotional stress of course. Our body awakens and gets into a restorative mode when faced with physical stress. That is why moving our bodies and taking a cold dip in the sea and staying hungry for a while works wonders for us. The repair process is what rejuvenates us.
Relaxation, soothing our muscles and mind is also a way of caring for ourselves. Any spiritual practice in the form of slowing down constant thinking will replenish our brain and emotions. Getting a massage, skincare, even taking a long hot bath is among things we can do to nurture ourselves.
When it comes to food, respecting our bodies and providing clean nourishment will be great. Just listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs.
